Sorry, the fingers were typing faster that my eyes the formula is
(bore x bore x stroke x cylinders x .7854) = 268.0275
The "why it works as well as the other formula" is the same. A circle is always 78.54% of the square surrounding it.
So when you multiply Bore x Bore x stroke (same as width x depth x length) you are finding the area of a cube.
When you multiply the result by .7854 you're finding the volume of the cylinder that is bounded by the interior of the cube.
