Not trying to be a smartass, but I own an 01 Dakota quad cab, and its the biggest piece of shit I've ever owned. Its got two more years in my care, then its history. Once the kids are both out of preschool and in regular school full time, the Dakota will become someone elses problem. I truly hate that truck.
My dakota is not yet four years old, and I've already had the rear brake cylinders replaced because they leaked. The front rotors had to be cut because they warped. I got boned when I took it in for the ball joint problem. Ball joints were taken care of for free, but the tie rod ends on the right side were bad. I had to pay out of pocket for them because the recall didn't cover it, and my warranty run out. Its got bad bushings on the front and every time I hit a bump it squeaks worse than a whorehouse bed. The fan switch for the heater/a/c went out and now it has only one speed "full blast". All this on a truck thats not even four years old. Ok, I do put about 300 miles a week on it because of my job, but still I think this is an excessive amount of problems for such a young vehicle. All this has me convinced that late model Dodge/Chrysler products aren't very well made. I'm really starting consider a riceburner next time. I can't believe I'm saying this because I always preferred to buy "American". But considering the lack of quality in my American truck, the riceburners are starting to look alot more appealing.
