When I had my '58 Willys wagon for a daily driver, I had some starting problems in the coldest days of winter. I jump-started it several times with a 12V. An old timer that I trusted instructed me to always have a second person and to minimize the time the cables are hooked up and make sure to disconnect them right as soon as it cranks over.
