Help installing rubber windshield seal

We are having a little trouble installing a rubber windshield seal. I was wondering what other people have used to help lubricate it during installation so you can get the groove seated and slide it to eliminate the wrinkles. Also, it seems that something left behind to help hold it in place would be useful. I looked in the glovebox and best of forum for tips, but didn't see anything. I am sure someone on here has some great info!
