Dave,
It took a while to look up...but this is as close as I can get.
I have a French book on the "The GMC 6x6 and DUKW: A Universal Truck" by Boniface and Jeudy. In a section regarding the Allied Surplus Service and selling surplus vehicles there is a photo with caption reading "Jean Redele's garage in Dieppe during a Renault surplus vehicle sale. GMC's are crowed together to make room for some dodge T-215s and Ford GTBs, the latter being more then a rarity in Europe." The pic is mainly GMC's but also SIX closed cab 1/2 ton Dodges and FIVE open cab 1/2 tons. Also TWO GTB Fords.
The photo does NOT have Gen. Patton or anything like that but it certainly places the 1/2 ton on the continent even if only at a surplus sale.
