I don't think the heater fan will last a long time at 2x the voltage and I hate trying to get that smokey smell of an electrical fire out of my cab <grin>/
I use an air cooled wire wound resistor from NAPA. Takes me down to 6 volys for high and 3 volts for low *center tapped. Gets pretty hot; is mounted in a safe place on the firewall (outside cab) on standofs. A lot cheaper than a $100 replacement motor and quite effective.
