OK, I’m still in the planning stages for my M37, but my donor vehicle is a 1994 Dodge 2500 (3/4 ton) 4X4, with a 360 V-8 and Automatic Transmission, all be it 333,000 miles though. The engine/transmission is in good shape, but the transfer case and both rear ends will have to be re-built.

In addition to the V-8 I’d like to also drop the modern Axels, re-built with low gears and lockers under the truck. The M’s Track is 62”, while the RAM’s I believe is 69.7”. That’s 7.7” wider.

With the distance between springs on the M37 only 26.5” apart, (the RAM is located 600 miles away so I have no measurements) I don’t know if its pumpkin will even fit inside the springs. But even if it does will the truck look bad with the center of the wheels located 3.85” further out on each side? I guess I could install 16” wide tires and then the inside of the tire would be the same location as the M-37” original tires, but the outside of each tire would be 7.35” further out. Also those are wider tires than I’d planed on.

So, for the question in the Subject line. Has anyone else installed different or modern axels in their M37?

Thanks,
Will
