Overall it was really clean, I don't doubt that the mileage was as stated.

As to the cause? impossible to tell. I suppose that if an overrev condition occured that it would have set a code in the EEPROM of the computer that would be retained even if the battery has been drained or removed.

However, I would think that the engine management system would be sophisticated enough to prevent an overrev from happening by shutting down fuel delivery to the engine. Pretty poor engineering if it can't.
