I have never driven a PW or M-37 with 5.83 ring and pinions. My trucks all have 489's. I am wondering if a truck, with a 318LA engine/Np-435, driven 60% on road and 40% off road would be better just staying with the 5.83's for a good off road performing truck and just running at reduced highway speeds. For those
of you who have changed from 5.83's to 4.89's is there really a noticable change of power off road ? I am totally aware of the RPM changes between the two ratios, but whats the real 'perveived' off road power change?
