I am looking into building my own Fording set up. No problem on the waterproof intake for the engine, exhausts above water, water proof ignition system.
Here are the questions;
Are Carbs special with seals on the butterfly shafts to prevent any ingestion of water ?
Is the Alternator/Generator a special waterproof model ?
How is the oil fill/dip stick waterproofed?
The Fan is designed to run in air. What happens when its submerged at speed in a much heavier viscus element like water ? What keeps the fan blades from bending forward.......Special designed fan ??
What keeps the hot cast iron manifolds from cracking when they immediatelly hit/submerge in cold water ? Same for a hot block ?
Can anyone point me to documents on fording
designs and problems.
Please no guesses, documented info or first hand experience is needed.
Thanks
Paul
