Anytime he has hauled two PWs, M37s etc, he has blown tires on the rear axle, in fact this year going to Moab, hauling two M37s I believe he blew 5 or 6 tires. The problem is two fold..first, the axles are located too far forward in respect to the trailer bed length, plus, the suspension is bad, the springs on the center axle are flattened and are carrying very little load. So, as we speak, he has located fresh suspension off a three axle trailer, and will be installing this plus relocating the forward most axle to the rear thus equilizing the loading better.
We took the trailer unloaded, and scaled each axle, the front axle was carrying approx 20% the center was carrying 7% and the rear was carrying the balance of 52% with the goose neck carrying the rest. An obvious balance problem!! So when he is finished we will test it thoroughly. By the way, the 6x6 in it's present form weighs slightly less than a stock M37!! (about 400lbs) Of course that will change when I get the rear winch and flatbed on it!!
