If you drill out most of the stud you can usually pick the rest out.
Or the method I can't really recommend:
I got in a real bind like this on one of the bolts that holds the flywheel to the crankshaft on a Detroit 16V71. I heated it until it was cherry red, gave it a little blast of oxygen and blew most of it out. When it cooled the rest (mostly slag)came out easy.
I often think that if I just would have heated it and let it cool it would come out without the drama.
