Hi Gordon, I have a 98 Ram 2500 w/24 valve Cummins. It came with 3.55 and auto trans. I also felt the tires looked too small. (after asking a few questions I found you could get the taller tires on the 1/2 ton and not the 2500 "they wanted to keep the truck lower because of the extra spring hieght".) I guess it wasn't politically correct if it was too high. More danger to the little cars again. I would have ordered the lower gears and the 6 speed if I ordered but got tired of waiting for that to become available and ended up with an auto and high gears. I pull a 30 ft. flat bed goose neck and the trans, dif. ratios and tires all worked out perfectly for towing performance. So I decided not to interfere with excellence and kept the roller skate tires. If you do any serious towing keep this in mind. Lyle Van Wert
