Howdy guys:
I think the search for the larger flatsix for my neighbor's forklift is over! Tonight we went and looked at a 1957 Dodge D-400 truck. The engine is either a 251 or 265 (not shure which) and has only about 12K miles on it since it had been gone thru. What is the easiest way to tell the difference between a 251 and 265? The doors are salvageable, the front fenders are decent but need some work, but could be used, the hood is solid but has a dent in the middle that could be hammered out, the front 'nose piece' is in great shape, with the D-O-D-G-E lettering intact and in good shape. It has really nice inner fenderwells too. It has a 4 speed trans with PTO on the side. What model trans would this be? We are planning on buying this truck. How much would the good parts I mentioned be worth on this truck? What off this truck will work on my '58 W-100? Thanks!
