Chock the wheels of the load?
.................Only necessary while tying down the load.
Chain down the frame, or the axles?
...........the axles.
Lower the tire pressure a bit (of the load)?
............no, not necessary.
Chains or straps?
...........either, if adequately sized.
What size/grade chain?
....................3/8 inch proof coil minimum or better grade.
Ratchet load-binders, or the flip-over handle kind?
..........either is fine. You might find the ratcheting kind a little less injurious. Tighten all of your binders and make sure your load is still tight. Even after you think it is fine, tow for a short distance and check it again. You may end up retightening. If you use the conventional, lever type, a little healthy paranoia will cause you to wire the handles down.
