I think the problem is that you are in the "People's Republic of Washington". On the other side of the line in Idaho, a bob-tail with a GVW of less than 26,000 hardly has to stop at the weigh-check stations. The problem stems from getting a commercial plate which requires the CDL. I stopped by and talked to the boys in their little brown jumpsuits today and freaked them out with a question on my 5-ton. The 14:00x20 tires are 9.5 ft across. 8.5 is the max. I asked him about a WIDE LOAD permit. He could not believe that the truck itsself was over width and not the cargo. For $28.00 a year a marking the truck as over width, I am okay. Tom
