The plastic chairs I use have a decent size base on them, around 3- 4 inches. Nice because you can just snap them on with no wiring. I place them every 48" stagering 16" on the next row. You can walk on top but I tried to avoid doing it. Never broke any, maybe a different manafucturer as these were pliable. Worked really nice on my radiant floor as they didn't crush or poke holes in the insulation and vapor barrier. I see you don't use a vapor barrier either on enclosed structures. That is basically code here as well. I totally agree with you on road mesh. Having tore out a lot of other peoples pours, at a minimum 75% of it is on the bottom side, normally just rust after a few years(just as you said)Kevin
