Lonnie, ever consider a GM one-wire alternator conversion? I have had both of my Cadillacs ('57 and '58) converted. Everything works better and they now charge even at idle! I would convert my flatfender, too; but I just bought it a new generator before I found a company that would build me a 6volt positive ground one-wire alternator.

I have found in owning the caddys that their generators a notoriously weak and the rebuilts dont last very long.
