My last words because this has become unproductive.
I do not hold myself out to be in expert in concrete and nowhere in my comments will you see that implied. However, I am, as are the rest of the folks on this forum able to read and benefit from many references (not just one) that are authored by people that equal or surpass your knowledge and experience. To pass on that knowledge does not require you to have experience equal to or exceeding that of the orignator.
I do not take offense, never had - never will, you do however do a disservice to engineers and engineering by derisively refering to them as "eggheads". The modern world could not function without engineers or the product of their labor. That is why standards exist - to promote efficency and ecomomy of effort.
I would bet also that you arrived at "18,000 psi" by reading a book/table created by an engineer or using methodology created by an engineer. Does that make the knowledge that you gained from it any less valid?
Lastly,
John stated....
"If anyone has additional ideas or info to contribute relating to the build please feel free to express them.
Thanks in advance to anyone responding"
Done and Done.
