4" thick slab is plenty for any power wagon or other pickup you will be puttin in that garage. Make sure you have a good sand and/or gravel base at least 12" thick and COMPACTED IN LAYERS under the slab. If you live in an area where freezing occurs, be sure to pour your footings at least 30" below grade. 18" wide by 8" deep footing is ideal. If freezing is not a problem, how about earthquakes? Depending on your location, some of these can cause problems.
