The plugs should be short or standard reach plugs. Fouled plugs can be somewhat corrected by going to a hotter range, but plugs alone cannot correct the problem of fouling which is normally caused by excess oil, and therefore means worn valve guides, rings or excessive cylinder wear. The only exception to the cause is in a newly rebuilt motor that is not yet broken in.
Hopefully it is just the valve guides and not the rings or?
