Welding a Crack in Transfer Case Cover?

Yes, I feel like a Dumb S...! About the time Jack Cain was asking about welding cast iron (Post below) I was starting to replace the seals on the transfer case of the Carryall. I NOW realize I didn't have all the bolts removed and there is a 6" crack along the bottom of the cover to prove it. I will be taking it to a local welding shop in the morning (hopefully it can be welded). Has anyone else welded their T.C. and is there anything I should be aware of (or do) before I put it back together? Thanks guys!
