If you load the Trailer correctly, you will only place 500-1,000# of weight on the Truck. It's the Hitch, Brakes, and Drive Train that will take the punishment.
Loading enough weight on the truck to maintain stability is the goal, but don't overload the truck as that will start killing the axels, springs, etc...
