It took DC a couple years to get an auto tranny beefy enough to be behind the CTD.
I think the release of the 2004.5 is the fact that the HO was not legal in all 50 states. I think they realized it did hurt sales. This new diesel has more power, more endurance, cleaner, quieter why wouldn't they release it...
What about the people who boost another 300-400 HP into their CTD. How are their drivetrains holding up? I would guess transmissions & transfers will need to be rebuilt more often then axles...
It all averages out in the end...
