I use a small kero salimander heater. I wish I had gotten a model with a thermostat on it.
I always keep the garage door up a few inches for ventalation.
I think if I was going to do it pernamently, I would get a ceiling mounted propane (forced air)heater with a large outdoor tank large enough that would require a propane service to have to come and fill it.
