M37 LU4 winch questions

So, I bought an M37, and am now in the process of getting it trail ready. It has a fresh 360 from a 1978 Lil' Red Express truck, Helitool disks all 'round, 1 ton GM master, power steering, etc. I'm going to going to swap out the 150' of 7/16" winch cable to a 3/8" synthetic, does anyone know off hand how much will fit? Also the drive shaft from the PTO to the winch rubs the engine just a hair, is there a way to correct this by shaving off a little of the drive shaft? Any help would be appreciated as I'm a total NEWBIE.
