Today your area is in the spotlight and thoughts, prayers, and support in many forms are coming to you and those in your region from everywhere. However after the flames are gone and media attention gets redirected to new stories, the fire will remain relevant to the locals for a long time. It's now 16 months since the 368,000-acre Hayman Fire affected our area. Amidst way too much "arm-chair-quarterbacking" and finger-pointing, the processes of forest rehabilitation and erosion control are still active on both public lands and private property with much remaining to be done.
Our thoughts are with you and all affected in CA remembering and understanding the risk, confusion, dispair, sense of community, and determination that accompany such a disaster.
