Mac, Sounds like you are on the street and in the know so maybe you could answer a question. Here is the imaginary situation.
Some unknown lowlife steals my Powerwagon at 8:00 PM at night. I come out, find it missing, and call the police. An alert officer sees a local thug, Evil Dan Mcgrue, driving eratically and pulls him over at 10 PM and discovers he is driving my freshly stolen truck. I have heard that he can not be charged with car theft because no one saw him steal my Power Wagon. Is this true?
I have heard that an automatic center punch is the window tool of choice of a lot of thugs because it is so small, quiet, and easy to throw away.
I did not mean to impune the police, its just that I felt a little violated when they stole my car and I'm not really sure what I was expecting from the police, warm milk and cookies would have been nice.
What the cop told me was, yeah, we lose about 4 cars a month out of this lot. Not much help when I have to walk 9 miles home.
Thanks
Lonnie
