How to find the Rim Date Code

The year that a rim for a WDX-WM300 Power-Wagon was made is stamped into the rim as a two digit number, for example: 51 for 1951, 46 for 1946, etc.

The rim date code is important to check, because if the rims are original it can help determine when a truck was made. For instance if a 1948 PW has four 1947 date coded rims, it is most likely that the truck was made in the early part of the 1948 model year. This sort of information becomes more helpful when trying to figure out what year a truck is if it is from the 1952-53 era, since there is not a better breakdown then that two year range by Serial number.

The rim date code is stamped on the face of the rim between a couple of the holes for the studs that hold the rim on the truck. The rim pictured in the two photos below, date coded 51, show the location in detail. The Rim Date Code is on the lower left side of these photos, between two lug nuts.

There are other stampings found on rims, for example, the two photos below show "MADE IN USA" and other numbers that appear to be manufacturing shift code numbers, although that has not been confirmed.
