Where to find the GVW

The Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW) of a Power-Wagon is listed on the data tag in different locations depending on the style of tag. For the most part the GVW was 8700 from 1946-1950, and 9500 from 1951-1968. There are exceptions to this, so each tag should be checked. For more about the door tags, and their location, check the Serial Number Tags page.

The GVW is located on the right side, in the middle, and is 8700lbs in the case of this tag. The GVW is still located on the right side of the tag, but it is now second from the top. The GVW is listed on this tag just after the Serial number. The GVW on this tag is located in the second slot on the top row, just after the serial number. This same tag style is used for early 1959.
