....some server space to hold (i.e. "host") your website. Most ISP's offer sever space. Contact your ISP for more info.

Then you'll need to write, or "program", the web page(s). I do mine the old fashioned way, by hand in HTML. I use MS Notepad, and save the file to my hard drive as "index.html".

While some folks swear by "editors" (computer programs that are sort of a shorthand code of HTML commands) instead of the "old fashioned" HTML by hand, it took me long enuf to learn HTML and this old dog is content with that.

The link below will take you step by step in using HTML to create a web page that ranges from simple to not so simple (ASP, JAVA, etc).

Once you've coded your page, you'll have to save your pictures on your hard drive. Save them as "jpg", and with a file name you can easily remember or recognize, like "sitepics", etc.

Ok...you've coded your page and saved your pics to a file on your home pc. Next you have to move the coded page(s) and pics to the ISP server. You need a software program to do this. These types of programs are called File Transfer Protocol, or FTP.

You can download a free FTP program to your home pc at: www.ipswitch.com. What you want is the 30 day trial version. Follow instructions on website. You'll get to use the FTP software free for 30 days, after which you'll have to "re-sign up" for another 30 day trial program. I've been doing this for about a year. There is nothing to buy and no unsolicited emails selling you their software.

Once the FTP program is on your pc, you can use it to transfer your web page(s) and pics from your pc to your ISP's server. This is the tricky part, for first timers. It's far too involved to describe in words here, but suffice it to say that your ISP will be invaluable in helping you to use the FTP program to transfer your web page(s) and pics to their server.

If you know nothing about pc's like me, you may spend hours or days straightening out your site. It's worth the effort, as you'll learn all you need (and maybe more than you want to know) about web pages.

Good luck. And use the link below. It's very, very helpful and directed at first timers.
