Ed, I should have clarified when I said restored firetrucks are worth zilch.....I was refering to full size firetrucks, not bushfire Power Wagons. When I say zilch..I mean relatively speaking. How many thousand hours labour & how many thousand dollars do you think it would take to restore a firetruck? Ever seen one sell for over $20,000? There's likely an exception, but almost all of the trucks that you've listed have been bought by locals on the P/W forum.
I can't say how many Power Wagons have sold for over $25,000 lately, but I can tell you that I have personally sold 2 for $24,000 & one for $27,000 in the past 12 months. George Wellmans Woody would sell for triple these figures....all I'm saying is that if you take two Power Wagons to the Barrett Jackson auction...one, a WM300 fully restored & then take an identical truck & put a wrecker on the back...it'll go for less than half the one with the bed &
I'm not saying this is right or wrong...it's just the way it is.
That's why it's important for you to finish your truck before you consider selling it unless it's a desperate situation or what you get for it is of no concern to you.
Look at the W500 Crew Cab on Ebay...that's a prime example. That's the coolest truck I've ever seen, but there'll be no collectors bidding on this truck to bring down to sell at Scottsdale this January.
There is a select group that love & collect these beasts & that group includes you & me. The trucks that you've quoted are the trucks bought by us...work truck collectors. The prices are not zilch, but they are less than the going price for a plain truck with bed, & much more work to restore.
