I have built and drag raced many of the 8-3/4 Chrysler differentials and I did notice that the early 1/2 ton trucks show a 8-3/4 R&P.
I was curious as well if it is the same R&P but I almost bet it's different. I ran a spool for many years with no issues on my 8-3/4 but the powerlock sure grips did not hold up. I used a 742 case, the 489 is a crush washer design unless you convert it.
