I have seen 3 different styles of Dualmatic hubs. The early ones has a cast aluminum top and base. The second ones were aluminum top and base with a steel band around the base. And yes on 1/2 ands 3/4 tons it can interfere with the wheel rim. the third models had a steel base and are the strongest of the Dualmatic hubs. I would not call any of these a very strong design and have seen or broken several of all styles.
The Warns are by far the strongest and are in fact stronger than the axle is some cases, but I have seen these shattered also.
The Selectros or what ever name was put on them are pretty easy to break also either by running up against a tree or destroying the insides. I used to run these on my M-37 with F&R lockers and kept an extra set under the seat. Lot easier to replace the Selectros than an axle shaft.
There was also a Spicer Hub Loc that was all steel and tough as nails, but I have never seen a set to fit a Power wagon/ M-37.
Thanks John
