Master Cylinder Mount Differences

Hello,

I'm restoring a 61 WM300 and as the frame was shot, I purchased another frame from a mid 50s PW. I have question regarding the master cylinder mount differences between the WM300 and the older frame. Dimensionally everything appears to be the same, at least from my basic checks, it is just that the WM300 item has that relief in the side of it (arrowed in image) and as I never a picture of it when the truck was together I can't work out if that relief is critical to function or not. Can anyone with tell me what that relief is for, and whether there are indeed other differences that I am now aware of. I just don't want to swap them if it is not necessary
