4 to 5 lbs is great, but the question is are you getting that under load? And as others have said, check for holes or vacuum leaks in the fuel line.
I have found that Aviation #3 does not hold up well to gasoline, even though they say otherwise. Teflon tape is okay, but keep it away from the ends of the pipe or you can get fibers in your carb. Double flare fittings are best.
