This thread is very interesting because as we all know the frame cross members are susceptible to rotting out due to water being trapped inside. Thee middle one on my truck holding the rear spring shackles has a hole in it. I have debated what to do- leave it alone, have someone weld a patch or just replace the cross member? Rather than riveting in another one can you simply use grade 8 bolts and lock washers? Your thoughts?
