Not sure wide tires are going to help. Bottom line is that it's your truck to do with what you like. If you plan to show for trophies and the like, keep original, otherwise upgrades can be a plus, and may add to the valve of the vehicle. Plenty of buyers looking for originality and/or upgrades in a vehicle as upgraded can be considered safety items.
Parts are plentiful and try to find a Dodge parts manual, it's an asset when looking for parts.
The only dishonoring of a vehicle is to butcher it up into something unrecognizable.
