Why just water? I am not understanding what your purpose is. I would mix antifreeze into the water at 50 50 and call it good. Why fill everything with water then have to drain the radiator and block as you don’t want straight water in it. It this is a test to see if the water pump is circulating water and that the hoses are tight and the thermostat is working, it seems to be a waste of time. You will get a better idea how things are cooling with antifreeze in the system. I can see plugging some of the ports if you don’t have the heater in yet.
If your trying to see if the radiator is leaking, I would take it to a radiator shop and have them do a good flush as it probably needs it they will find any leaks and repair them for you. I would probably have them put 5 lbs of pressure on the radiator to find any leaks.
