Best friend took an antique German mantel clock to the clock shop to have the movement cleaned. Guy at the clock shop told her that it couldn't be cleaned because it would "ruin it". He then told her that he could remove the works and replace them with a battery powered quartz movement, one that was most likely made in China, which would be much better. She politely declined, grabbed her clock, and ran out of there as fast as she could. My guess is, we should just scrap all the old, well built "junk", and replace it with something new and battery powered and "better"! We are being overrun by the lazy and the stupid, who would rather replace something than repair it.
