Do you not leave any extra length on the ends, as is normally recommended?

Also, to be sure I understand, you apply the adhesive to both surfaces of the gasket and let that dry before putting the gasket on the pan and the pan against the block? Seems like the gasket wouldn't stick to either the pan or the block, in that case. I'm probably not understanding something.
