Is this car key less start/entry, where you have to depress the brake peddle and push a button on the dash to start?
If so, the battery in the key fob might be going dead, that would/could cause an intermittent start issue.
I'm not sure about Subaru, but there might be a relay in the relay panel with poor connections too.
