You should install felt anti-corrosion washers, so are dry, some are wet. Those that are dry, cover with grease before installing. These prevent the fumes that come up around the terminals from corroding terminals and cables. If it's a maintenance free battery dump it, if it's a battery that is several years old, add "Charge-it" to the battery to dissolve the electrolytes off the plates.
