Starting Problem Question

Greetings,

So my '54 FF sat for a year+ without being started. Health issues in the family took a higher priority. I've replaced the 6 volt battery and cleaned the fuel tank and lines.

Before parking it a year ago the amp guage would shift when the key was on and I hit the floor starter. The gas guage would also indicate fuel levels.

Now, after the new battery and cleaning the fuel system none of the guages show any signs of life when the key is turned or the starter is depressed. All of the vehicles' lights are working and the battery is fully charged.

When trying to start the truck it turns over but won't fire. There is fuel all the way to the carburetor.

Tomorrow I'm going to start checking for a spark at the spark plugs. I've got a new distro cap, rotor, condenser, coul, and points to give it a tune up.

Anyone have a preliminary guess on which of these components, or some other part is the source of this no-start condition and failure of the dash gauges to operate?

Thanks for any thoughts.

Mike
