The first W500 that I rode in was a late '50s with a flathead six. It had no trouble keeping up with the rest of the group, or climbing the hills. Granted, it was not loaded to the max, but it did go through some challenging terrain without too much issue. My '66 W500 has the 318 and it gets up to speed pretty quickly compared to my other antique off-road trucks.
