i'm not really sure if i can help here.but my friend the model t freak use's solder and various types & guages of metal to repair the water jackets in those little 4 bangers.i know the la france is somewhat different but you can sure try.the guy's in las vegas that redo imperial palaces collector car's may be able to help you also.this is assuming i understood you and the jug's aren't ate thru into the cyl.one more thing caterpillar($$$)used to have a process of welding cast iron you could check there too.western diesel 800 266 4934 www.wdiesel.com they have done some great stuff for my friends out west who do the really cool old trucks.casting repairs are a specialty for them. eric
