The cylinder liners come in 3/32 or 1/8 thickness. I don't see why higher compression or other mods would have any affect on the walls of the sleeve. Contact Melling and discuss what you plan to do and get their input. Aluminum block engines have cast iron sleeves, they perform fine at higher compressions.
