The front brush guard appears unmodified from when it was in state service. They only went back to the top of the windshield and did not go over the cab. This one is a little unusual in that it is flat against the grill, usually the grill guard was on top of the front bumper with enough room to stand between the grill and guard.
The flatbed on these trucks is very functional with the fire body removed. They are made from a heavy C channel edge with the deck being quarter inch plate. Around the perimeter, stake pockets were cut into them and a low wood set of sides was standard. With the fire bed removed, there was two lengths of C channel left that the fire bed was bolted into.
