Same thing happened to a local guy here. I was told the story a few years ago, but it was the same thing. The city deemed his rural property a 'nuisance' and he was too old to take care of it, so they 'condemned' it and showed up with equipment to clean him out. He had a few antique tractors in there, too.
A couple lawyers got involved and the within a few days, everything was returned to him.
So there is past precedent, if that helps..
