I agree. Common problem with new pumps. You got lucky. The arm falling off of my pump while I was driving down the road almost ruined my engine. The arm was thrown up into the #2 cylinder and caused all kinds of carnage. First thing I would do if getting a new manual pump, would be to replace that pin with a bolt with a nut staked in place or a cotter pin.
